PSYCHOSOCIAL EVALUATIONS FOR IMMIGRATION CASES
Amor Therapy offers mental health psychosocial evaluations for immigration purposes. Juriana will meet with you for a face-to-face appointment in the office or via Telehealth, if preferred. In some cases 2-3 sessions are needed and the duration is 1.5-2 hours. Juriana will obtain release of information to consult with your attorney regarding your case. EXTREME HARDSHIP WAIVER
These evaluations help to assess the potential impact of the immigrant’s deportation on a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR).
Through the process of the evaluation different factors are assessed to include personal history, family dynamic/family ties, medical issues, psychological issues, educational opportunities, financial or economic issues, health conditions and care, and social /cultural factors to determine the clinical implications these factors could have on the possibility of the loved one getting deported or moving abroad.
VAWA (VIOLENCE AGAINST
WOMEN ACT)
These evaluations protect non-citizens (either gender) and children who have been a victim of domestic violence, serious crime, battery, and/or exploitation by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. The VAWA evaluations and petitions are done without the abuser’s knowledge. If approved, the VAWA petition would allow the applicant to work in the United States and become a legal and permanent resident (obtain a green card).
U-VISA & T-VISA
A U-Visa may be granted to an undocumented individual living in the U.S. that experienced a serious crime, robbery, and/or assault in the U.S. They must provide substantial evidence that they collaborated with law enforcement and they experienced substantial mental and physical abuse due to having been a victim of that crime.
A T-Visa is granted to victims of human trafficking and their immediate families if they agree to work with law enforcement to testify against their perpetrators. In order to be eligible, an individual must demonstrate that they would experience severe or unusual harm if they were deported from the U.S.
Cancellation of Removal
A cancellation of removal is for a non-lawful resident and lawful permanent residents (LPR) who have resided in the U.S for more than 10 years and it’s to prevent the process of deportation and or removal from the United States. Evaluations gather information on the psychological,
economic, medical., etc that the U.S citizen family member would have if the non-citizen member were to be deported or removed. The assessment would be on the U.S citizen family member and how the deportation/removal would impact them if the non-citizen were deported.
Asylum
These evaluations must be completed within a year from arriving to the U.S. Evaluations for Political Asylum are important to gather information about abuse or mistreatment and psychological distress you or your family (spouse and children) experienced as a result of persecution, social and political conflicts in your country of origin. The evaluations assess trauma, mental disorders, and PTSD.
